Prerequisites
- Technical expertise with routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) and switching (VLAN, Trunking, Dot1x, various flavors of STP)
- Hands‑on experience in MPLS, QoS and VoIP
- Hands‑on experience for network troubleshooting in LAN/WAN environment
- Strong technical and subject matter expertise in at least one or more of the following specialties:
- Cisco GSR routers and switches like Catalyst 3560/3750/4948
- Juniper MX series routers and switches EX4200
- SDWAN – Silver Peak (Aruba/HP), Cisco Viptela, Fortinet
- Transmission technologies like Alcatel 7750SR‑c12, Alcatel 7470, ADVA
- Wireless
- Nexus Switches, VSS
- Knowledge on SDWAN technologies using Silver Peak (Aruba/HP), Viptela and Fortinet
- Knowledge of security technologies
- Knowledge on scripting languages like Python
- Excellent communications skills and must have worked with global customers and global carriers
- Understanding and expertise on security products (Firewall/IPS/SIEM/SIM/IVE/SA/Proxy) and Linux
- Provide comprehensive maintenance plans for change management review and approval; implement according to the plan
- Manage and support MPLS backbone spanning across globe
Responsibilities
- Engineers who have a passion and understanding for providing outstanding customer service. This person will be part of a team of experts who are responsible for handling and providing network/security support, problem management, managing network performance and proactively identifying issues before they become customer‑affecting. This team provides 24x7 support, as well as provides training to junior engineers.
- Support the operations of advanced IP network/security services; take escalations from Level 1 and Level 2 engineers and/or as directed by the Operations’ Managers.
- Work experience in a fast‑paced Network Operations environment.
- Experience in remote troubleshooting and diagnosis of network connectivity issues.
- Work with a variety of customers and vendors (technical as well as non‑technical).
- Communicate technical jargon to non‑technical people.
- Receive calls from customers and work on trouble tickets to resolve customer‑escalated network and security issues.
- Work with Telecommunication Service Providers to resolve escalated circuit problems.
- Perform complex changes on the network and security devices.
- Work with hardware/software vendors to resolve problems.
- Work in a rotating shift schedule.
- Manage Global Operations Center shifts and exchange handoff between various shifts.
- Manage daily work distribution for Global Operations Center.
- Become an SME for a few priority customer accounts and be proactive to improve customer service.
- Train and mentor juniors.
- Participate in various Network and Security projects.
- Participate in weekly/monthly/quarterly service review calls with customers.
- Contribute in providing appropriate content for the weekly/monthly/quarterly service reports.
- Any additional task given to the incumbent from time‑to‑time based on business needs.

Experience
- Minimum 7 years of progressive, relevant experience and proven capability to work in a complex network environment.
Education
- Bachelor in Engineering - Computers/Electronics/Communication or related field.
- Graduate/Post Graduate in Science/Maths/IT or related streams with relevant technology experience.
Technical and Other Skills
- Aptitude and desire to learn advanced IP network services.
- ITIL process awareness.
