Job summary

Soechi Group seeks an experienced Technical Superintendent in Jakarta, Indonesia, to oversee the technical management, maintenance, and readiness of assigned vessels. You will ensure safety, reliability, and seaworthiness while complying with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and class requirements.

Roles include supervising repairs, coordinating dry-docking, and guiding vessel crews on technical matters, with frequent travel to vessels and operations across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Certified COC Class 1.
• Minimum 3 contracts sailing experience as Second Engineer or 2 contracts as Chief Engineer on Tanker/LNG/Gas vessels.
• Familiar with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code and related maritime regulations.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proven leadership capability and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Willing to travel frequently and attend vessels as required.

TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical management, maintenance, and operational readiness of assigned vessels. The role will ensure vessels are maintained in safe, reliable, and seaworthy condition while complying with applicable maritime regulations, class requirements, company standards, and planned maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the technical management and maintenance of assigned vessels.
• Monitor the overall technical condition, performance, and operational readiness of vessels.
• Ensure vessel maintenance is carried out in accordance with the planned maintenance system (PMS), manufacturer's recommendations, class requirements, and company procedures.
• Monitor and follow up on main engine, auxiliary machinery, deck machinery, electrical systems, navigation equipment, and other critical shipboard equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise repairs, maintenance, dry-docking, docking projects, and major technical works.
• Conduct regular vessel visits and inspections to assess the vessel's technical condition and ensure maintenance standards are maintained.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the Master, Chief Engineer, and vessel crew on technical matters.
• Monitor vessel performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.
• Review and monitor machinery performance, fuel consumption, technical reports, defect reports, and maintenance records.
• Ensure timely follow-up and closure of defects, breakdowns, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Class, Flag Administration, shipyards, contractors, vendors, and other external parties regarding technical matters.
• Ensure vessels remain compliant with applicable SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, Class requirements, Flag State requirements, and other relevant maritime regulations.
• Prepare and monitor the annual technical maintenance and dry-docking plans for assigned vessels.
• Monitor technical budgets, maintenance costs, spare parts, and procurement requirements for assigned vessels.
• Review technical specifications and quotations and coordinate with Procurement and relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate technical solutions and cost control.
• Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, vetting, and incident investigations as required.
• Investigate technical failures, breakdowns, and incidents and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, reports, certificates, and records for assigned vessels.
• Work closely with the Marine, HSSEQ, Crewing, Procurement, and Operations teams to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.

Requirements

• CertifiedCOC Class 1
