About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership and oversight for mechanical engineering activities related to LNG/FSRU projects.
The role will be responsible for reviewing and approving mechanical engineering deliverables, overseeing specialized equipment, coordinating EPC contractors and shipyards, managing technical and quality requirements, and supporting commissioning and final handover of FSRU projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design Review & Verification
- Review and approve mechanical engineering deliverables for LNG/FSRU projects.
- Review technical specifications, drawings, calculations, and engineering documentation for:
- LNG regasification skids
- Cryogenic piping systems
- High-pressure pumps
- Rotating and static equipment
- Mechanical utility systems
- Ensure mechanical designs comply with approved project specifications, applicable Class requirements, and international engineering standards.
- Identify design issues, technical risks, and inconsistencies and coordinate appropriate resolutions.
Contractor & Shipyard Management
- Supervise and coordinate EPC contractors, shipyards, engineering consultants, and equipment vendors.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, quality requirements, schedule, and applicable codes.
- Provide technical direction and resolve mechanical engineering issues arising during fabrication, installation, modification, and conversion activities.
- Review and respond to technical queries, deviations, and requests for information from contractors and vendors.
Equipment Oversight
- Provide technical oversight for the procurement, inspection, testing, installation, and integration of specialized mechanical equipment.
- Review equipment specifications and vendor documentation for rotating and static equipment, including:
- Compressors
- Vaporizers
- Pumps
- Heat exchangers
- Pressure vessels
- Other LNG/FSRU mechanical equipment
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), functional testing, and equipment performance verification as required.
- Ensure equipment integration is aligned with overall FSRU process and mechanical systems.
Quality, Safety & Risk Assurance
- Participate in and/or lead HAZOP, HAZID, risk assessments, and technical safety reviews related to mechanical systems.
- Identify mechanical design and operational risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
- Review technical deviations, non-conformities, and corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
- Ensure mechanical engineering activities comply with relevant ASME, API, SIGTTO, Class Society, and other applicable international standards and requirements.
Commissioning & Handover
- Provide technical support during pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing.
- Monitor mechanical system testing and equipment commissioning to ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical issues during commissioning.
- Review commissioning records, test results, punch lists, and technical documentation.
- Support the final handover and acceptance of the FSRU project.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Master's Degree and Chartered/Professional Engineer status are preferred.
- Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with strong experience in offshore, marine, LNG, or related energy environments.
- Experience in FSRU or FPSO projects will be considered an advantage.
- Proven experience in FEED, detailed engineering/design, shipyard modifications, vessel conversion, or offshore project execution.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Cryogenic systems
- High-pressure gas handling systems
- LNG equipment and facilities
- FSRU regasification systems
- Rotating and static equipment
- Mechanical piping systems
- Strong understanding of applicable international standards, including ASME, API, and SIGTTO.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, shipyards, equipment vendors, Class Societies, and other project stakeholders.
- Experience with equipment inspection, testing, installation, commissioning, and technical acceptance.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Willing to undertake shipyard, vessel, offshore, and project-site assignments as required.
- Valid offshore/site medical certification or willingness to obtain the required certification is preferred/required for relevant assignments.

Candidates with experience in FSRU conversion, LNG terminals, FPSO projects, offshore facilities, shipyard conversion/modification, or major LNG/Oil & Gas EPC projects are strongly encouraged to apply.
