Job description

We are looking for a Payroll Professional with strong expertise in end-to-end payroll processing and the ability to develop payroll processes that are accurate, efficient, well-controlled, and scalable.

This role will serve as a Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME), contributing to payroll process improvement, business process reengineering, payroll governance, internal controls, and payroll risk mitigation. The role will also collaborate with Human Capital, Finance, Risk, Technology, and Data teams to support payroll transformation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Payroll Processing
  • Understand and oversee the end-to-end payroll cycle, from payroll input preparation and validation through payroll processing, reconciliation, approval, and reporting.
  • Perform and/or support payroll result validation and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify payroll discrepancies, exceptions, and potential issues, and support appropriate resolution.
  • Ensure payroll processes are executed in accordance with established policies, procedures, timelines, and applicable requirements.
2. Payroll Business Analysis & Process Reengineering
  • Conduct assessments of existing payroll processes to identify manual activities, process duplication, bottlenecks, control gaps, inefficiencies, and potential errors.
  • Develop business requirements, process requirements, business rules, and functional requirements for payroll system enhancement and development.
  • Simplify and standardize complex payroll processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, workflow improvement, system integration, and straight-through processing.
  • Develop and maintain process maps and process documentation to support continuous payroll improvement.
3. Payroll Governance & Internal Control
  • Develop and continuously improve the payroll governance framework, policies, SOPs, work instructions, and payroll calendar.
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, approval authorities, and escalation mechanisms through RACI and governance frameworks.
  • Support the development of payroll quality assurance and control-monitoring mechanisms.
  • Ensure changes to payroll rules, formulas, parameters, and system configurations are implemented through a controlled governance and approval process.
  • Identify and support mitigation of payroll operational risks and control gaps.
4. Payroll Improvement & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Analyze payroll-related data and process performance to identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with Human Capital, Finance, Risk, Technology, and Data teams in addressing payroll-related business and system requirements.
  • Support payroll transformation initiatives, including process optimization, system enhancement, automation, and standardization.
  • Act as a Payroll SME in discussions related to payroll processes, controls, business requirements, and system improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (S1), preferably in Accounting, Management, Finance, Human Capital, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in payroll operations, payroll implementation, payroll consulting, payroll process improvement, or related areas.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing, preferably within organizations with a large workforce, multiple payroll populations, multi-entity operations, or complex payroll processes.
  • Experience in business analysis and business process reengineering, particularly in payroll or HR-related processes.
  • Ability to develop and interpret process maps, SOPs, RACI, business requirements, and functional requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in payroll system implementation, automation, process improvement, or HRIS will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of payroll governance, internal control, risk management, and payroll compliance will be an advantage.
  • Certifications in payroll, tax, business analysis, project management, risk management, or process improvement will be an advantage.
