Job summary

Job description

Translating mining technical documentation, operational manuals, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance materials between English and Mandarin Chinese

Providing interpretation services during meetings, negotiations, and site visits with Chinese-speaking partners, contractors, and stakeholders

Ensuring accuracy and consistency in the translation of mining-specific terminology and industry jargon

Assisting with the localisation of mining equipment specifications, geological reports, and operational documentation

Supporting communication between operations teams and Chinese suppliers regarding procurement, specifications, and delivery schedules

Facilitating discussions related to safety protocols, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements with Mandarin-speaking partners

Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive commercial and technical information

Identifying and clarifying ambiguities or cultural nuances that may impact communication and project outcomes

What we're looking for

Fluent proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese, with professional-level written and spoken communication skills in both languages

Proven experience as a translator or interpreter, preferably within the mining, resources, energy, or engineering sectors

Strong understanding of mining terminology, operational processes, and industry-specific vocabulary in both English and Mandarin

Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy and precision when translating complex technical documentation

Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and manage multiple translation projects simultaneously

Strong interpersonal and cultural awareness skills, with the ability to navigate cross-cultural communication challenges

Relevant translation qualification or certification is preferred

Experience with mining operations, safety standards, or geological processes is advantageous
