Job summary

PT Zinus Dream Indonesia in Cikupa, Tangerang, Banten is seeking an experienced R&D Mattress Engineer to design and optimize mattress layer structures and product configurations. Qualifications

• Experience in R&D for Mattress, Foam, Cushion or Bedding materials.
• Ability to design mattress layer structures and product configurations.
• Understanding of material characteristics including PU Foam, Memory Foam and HD Foam.
• Ability to analyze data and interpret test results using Excel.
• Good business communication in English with foreign suppliers.

• Develop and design mattress layer structures and product configurations based on comfort and performance targets.
• Develop products based on material characteristics and combinations such as PU Foam, Memory Foam, HD Foam and other mattress materials.
• Evaluate and optimize mattress structures for firmness, support, pressure relief, recovery and durability.
• Conduct mattress product testing and analyze test data results.
• Analyze material characteristics including Foam Density, ILD/IFD, Sag Factor, Resilience and Compression Set.
• Perform benchmarking and reverse engineering of competitor products.
• Identify root causes of product issues and develop improvement plans.
• Develop and evaluate foam formulations and materials to support product performance.
• Develop and evaluate pocket spring and hybrid mattress designs according to product requirements.
• Conduct pressure mapping and human comfort evaluation as part of development and validation.

Job description

This role involves developing and designing mattress layer structures and product configurations according to target comfort and performance requirements. You will work with various materials including PU Foam, Memory Foam, and HD Foam to optimize mattress performance across firmness, support, pressure relief, recovery, and durability parameters.

Key responsibilities

Develop and design mattress layer structures and product configurations based on comfort and performance targets

Develop products based on material characteristics and combinations such as PU Foam, Memory Foam, HD Foam, and other mattress materials

Evaluate and optimize mattress structures based on parameters including firmness, support, pressure relief, recovery, and durability

Conduct mattress product testing and analyze and interpret test data results

Analyze physical material characteristics including Foam Density, ILD/IFD, Sag Factor, Resilience, and Compression Set

Perform benchmarking and reverse engineering of competitor products to gain insights for product development

Analyze product issues, identify root causes, develop improvement plans, and validate applied solutions

Develop and evaluate foam formulations and materials to support product performance

Develop and evaluate pocket spring and hybrid mattress designs according to product requirements

Conduct pressure mapping and human comfort evaluation as part of product development and validation processes

About you

3-8 years of relevant experience

Experience in R&D for Mattress, Foam, Cushion, Bedding, Furniture, or Material

Understanding of material characteristics such as PU Foam, Memory Foam, and HD Foam

Understanding of physical material characteristics including Foam Density, ILD/IFD, Sag Factor, Resilience, and Compression Set

Ability to design mattress layer structures and product configurations

Understanding of product performance indicators such as firmness, support, pressure relief, recovery, and durability

Experience in product testing and analysis of test data results

Ability to analyze and interpret data using Microsoft Excel

Problem-solving capability including root cause analysis, improvement planning, and solution validation

Basic business communication ability in English with foreign suppliers and understanding of English-language materials and documents
