A complete application in a minute — tailored resume and cover letter, ready to send.
PT Good Wood Interior in Jepara seeks an experienced upholstery engineer to design and optimize cushions, backs, sunbeds and pads, translating requirements into CAD drawings, specs and build guidelines for foam, fabrics and fasteners.
The role includes cost modelling, prototyping, sit-testing and close collaboration with the sewing line and QC to ensure parts leaving the factory meet the spec. On-site work in Jepara with English communication is required.
Engineer loose cushions, fixed upholstery, backrests, sunbed and daybed pads for comfort, support and long-term shape retention. You will produce CAD drawings and technical specifications for cushions, covers and upholstered components — including patterns, seam construction, closures and assembly detail. You will select and specify foam systems: reticulated / quick-dry foam, standard PU, latex, fibre wrap, and combination builds tuned to a target feel. You will define density, ILD/hardness, layering and internal construction to hit a specific comfort profile, and justify those choices technically. You will build accurate costings: foam and fabric yield, nesting and marker efficiency, labour minutes, BOM and landed cost per piece. You will prototype, sit-test and iterate — then document what worked so it can be repeated at volume. You will specify outdoor-grade materials: acrylic and solution-dyed fabrics, PTFE/UV-stable thread, marine zips, drainage and breathability detailing. You will work directly with the sewing line and QC to make sure what leaves the factory matches the spec. You will support sales and project teams with technical answers on custom and contract enquiries.

Solid experience engineering upholstery or cushions — furniture, marine, automotive, or contract/hospitality seating
Hands-on knowledge of reticulated (quick-dry / dry-fast) foam and standard PU foam, and a real understanding of how foam specification translates into how something feels
Strong CAD skills — AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino or equivalent — and the ability to produce drawings a factory can actually build from
Comfortable with costing and yield calculation; you understand that a comfort decision is also a cost decision
Experience with outdoor, marine or otherwise weather-exposed applications is a strong advantage
Able to communicate in English, and willing to work on-site in Jepara
