Job summary

PT Good Wood Interior in Jepara seeks an experienced upholstery engineer to design and optimize cushions, backs, sunbeds and pads, translating requirements into CAD drawings, specs and build guidelines for foam, fabrics and fasteners.

The role includes cost modelling, prototyping, sit-testing and close collaboration with the sewing line and QC to ensure parts leaving the factory meet the spec. On-site work in Jepara with English communication is required.

Qualifications

• Solid experience engineering upholstery or cushions
• Hands-on knowledge of reticulated foam and standard PU foam
• Strong CAD skills and ability to produce factory-ready drawings
• Comfortable with costing and yield calculation
• Experience with outdoor/marine or weather-exposed applications is a plus
• Able to communicate in English and willing to work on-site in Jepara

Responsibilities

• Engineer cushions, fixed upholstery, backrests, sunbed and daybed pads for comfort and long-term shape retention
• Produce CAD drawings and technical specifications for cushions, covers and components
• Select and specify foam systems for target feel
• Define density ILD and layering to hit a comfort profile and justify choices
• Build costings: foam/fabric yield, nesting, labour minutes, BOM, landed cost per piece
• Prototype, test and iterate; document workflows for volume production
• Specify outdoor-grade materials and durability details
• Work with sewing line and QC to ensure factory outputs match specs
• Support sales and project teams with technical answers on custom inquiries
