Job summary

Kanary Bakery in Bali seeks an experienced FB Barista Supervisor to oversee the beverage station, ensure top-notch coffee, and elevate customer service on a contract basis.

You will mentor baristas, monitor quality, manage inventory, and contribute to menu development while upholding health and safety standards in a vibrant hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years as a barista with 1–2 years in a supervisory role
• Advanced knowledge of espresso machines, grinders and coffee equipment
• Expertise in specialty coffee prep incl. latte art and milk steaming
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Preferably a professional barista certification
• Fluency in English; other languages advantageous

About the role

Kanary Bakery is seeking an experienced FB Barista Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Bali on a contract basis. In this supervisory role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our beverage station, ensuring exceptional coffee preparation and customer service standards are consistently maintained. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring barista staff, maintaining quality control, and contributing to the overall success of our hospitality operations. This position offers the opportunity to showcase your expertise whilst managing a team in one of the world's most desirable hospitality destinations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor barista staff, ensuring adherence to coffee preparation standards and company protocols


• Prepare high-quality specialty coffees and beverages with precision and consistency


• Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups and other beverage supplies, liaising with management for restocking


• Train new barista team members on espresso machine operation, latte art techniques and customer service excellence


• Maintain a clean and organised beverage station, adhering to health and safety regulations


• Manage customer interactions with professionalism and attentiveness, addressing any concerns promptly


• Assist in developing new beverage menu items and promoting seasonal offerings


• Support shift management and contribute to achieving sales targets and customer satisfaction goals


• Conduct regular quality checks on equipment and ensure timely maintenance and repairs

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a barista, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role


• Advanced knowledge of espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee brewing equipment


• Expertise in specialty coffee preparation, including latte art, milk steaming and extraction techniques


• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff


• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment


• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards


• Professional certification in barista skills or coffee preparation (preferred)


• Fluency in English; additional language skills are advantageous


• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, weekends and public holidays


• Passion for coffee culture and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality
