An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, highly skilled and experienced Specialist Teacher for Deaf Children and Young People to contribute to the success of the Hearing Support Team by taking on the leadership role as Senior Teacher.

About the Team

The Hearing Support Team is a welcoming, busy team, consisting of specialist Teachers for Deaf Children and Young People, (TODs), an Educational Audiologist, a technician, practitioners and a BSL tutor, all with a wealth of knowledge and experience. We work with babies, children, and young people with a diagnosed hearing loss from the point of identification/referral up to 18. We work directly with families in the home, in Early Years settings, Leicestershire maintained schools and academies and specialist settings and Special schools. Staff may work within our specialist secondary Hearing Resource Centre based in Beauchamp College, Oadby. As part of Specialist Teaching Service, we aim to promote and improve the inclusion, opportunities, outcomes and experiences of children with Deafness, working in partnership with families, educational settings and organisations.

About the Role

We welcome applications from experienced Qualified TODs who wish to take on the Senior Teacher leadership role and work with the Team Manager to shape the development of the team. The role includes leading on specific areas of work, providing effective performance management within the team, mentoring newly qualified staff and deputising for the Team Manager as appropriate.

You will have responsibility for a caseload of Deaf children and young people and be confident in providing support and advice to children and young people with a diagnosis of Deafness, their families/carers, and educational settings within a multi‑agency context. You will be confident delivering training to a range of audiences as a key part of the role.

You will be supported to develop in the role through professional development opportunities, including access to training and mentoring.
