Administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.

SCHEDULE: 7a-3:30p; no weekends

Essential Functions

1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans; evaluate patient progress towards expected outcomes.
2. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.

4. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
5. Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as assigned.
6. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team for effective care planning.
7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
8. Apply growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
9. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately.
10. Document patient care comprehensively, including assessments, education, medication, treatments, and safety.
11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
12. Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
14. Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
15. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns clearly to team members.
16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic environment; respect legal issues and patient rights.
17. Support new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
18. Maintain punctual attendance per policies and standards.
19. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

8. Provide patient care within the virtual hospital setting, utilizing TeleHealth technology for assessments and care planning.
9. Conduct virtual patient visits, assess symptoms, and escalate issues as needed.
10. Collaborate with in-home clinical/support staff to support patient needs.
11. Provide age-appropriate care in virtual units/departments.
12. Administer direct care in the hospital-at-home setting, including assessments and planning.
13. Travel and enter patient homes within designated regions.
14. Transport items, equipment, and medications as requested (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy).

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved nursing school.
• Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and specific units.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintain current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
• Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for specific areas; NRP for NICU.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for hospital at home duties.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience unless approved otherwise.
• Hospital Care at Home: 2 years of acute care nursing experience required.
