Job Description
Purpose of Position
The IT Operations Analyst is a core role that is central to the operational integrity of our IT framework, demanding a candidate with the initiative and expertise to deliver critical support across the business. The analyst will be entrusted with the vigilant monitoring of our technological infrastructure and services and will be a principal agent in the advancement of our automation capabilities.
This position calls for a forward-thinking and analytical professional who will collaborate across diverse teams to uphold the steadfastness, security, and optimal performance of our IT systems. The role's responsibilities are integral to our operational continuity and include participation in an on-call rota to provide decisive management of major incidents beyond conventional working hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert second-line support, including incident and problem management, to ensure timely resolution in line with our Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Actively monitor the IT infrastructure and services, taking remedial action or escalating as necessary to mitigate potential issues and ensure service uptime.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide essential support and incident management during non-business hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Manage the full lifecycle of major incidents, including initial response, critical data collection, and resolution. Facilitate clear and timely communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and minimise impact. Contribute to detailed Post-Incident Reports to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Collaborate with third-line support teams and external suppliers to facilitate incident resolution and service recovery.
- Oversee the deployment of software releases, patches, and updates into the live environment, ensuring minimal disruption and continuous improvement.
- Assist in automating operational tasks and processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Analysing and optimising existing scripts or operational tasks. Implementing automation whilst ensuring stringent security protocols are adhered to and enhancing efficiency and system integrity.
- Adhere to all IT policies, procedures, and SLAs, contributing to a culture of operational excellence.
- Continuously review and enhance our monitoring systems to ensure comprehensive coverage, identify potential risks, and improve overall efficiency.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
Core Technical Skills
A strong fundamental understanding and hands-on experience with:
- API Integration
- Node.js
- Unix/Linux environments
- Python
- Proven ability to automate tasks, with experience in Google Apps Script
Beneficial Experience
Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is highly advantageous.
Experience
- Experience in working within a help desk or service desk environment.
- Demonstrated experience in a 1st and 2nd line IT Operations or support role
- Experience with incident and problem management in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge and experience with Unix/Linux and Windows Servers.
