The Interim Director of Communications will be responsible for ensuring the organisation maintains and improves its profile as a cultural highlight in the global artistic landscape. Working closely with the leadership team, you will set strategy and deliver proactive political engagement and advocacy campaigns to build relationships with key stakeholders and open new avenues of dialogue with key groups. Additionally, you will formulate and implement an employee engagement campaign to improve internal communications and ensure consistent corporate messaging.

The key focus of the role will be to proactively lead on external affairs/stakeholder engagement, including parliamentary and government affairs, and building relationships with funding bodies to ensure the organisation is recognized as a cultural highlight. The role involves liaising with staff at all levels, board members, creative teams, artists, sponsors, and external organisations. The Director of Communications also oversees the media and public relations, supported by a media and PR team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an interim communications professional to utilize political and stakeholder engagement expertise to influence and shape the future of this organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the stakeholder affairs programme to enhance engagement with funding bodies.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure organisational interests are central to policy, media, and engagement activities.
• Lead and manage the performance and development of the Press Office team.
• Demonstrate success in influencing political stakeholders.
• Operate effectively at a senior level.
• Engage creatively with campaigns to build relationships.
• Forge effective relationships with business, political, and government leaders.
• Possess or demonstrate understanding and passion for arts/media organizations.
