Job Title Engineer - Trade Finance and Lending (TF&L)

Trade Finance and Lending (TF&L) is a key business division with the Corporate Bank, serving global clients with innovative financial solutions. This team is undergoing a significant transformation, modernizing legacy platforms into cloud-compliant, event-driven architectures with reusable technology stacks to automate and enhance business processes.

As an Engineer, you will take on a pivotal role in this journey. You will tackle the challenge of working with a complex, large-scale legacy codebase with minimal documentation, using your technical expertise to transform systems in line with strategic architecture, build team knowledge, and create lasting impact.

You’ll deliver solutions that modernize and improve the system while ensuring stability and performance. By analysing current state, you’ll implement innovative solutions and share your knowledge to help foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. You will have high standards for excellence, demonstrating best practices in software development.

You will develop strong relationships with business stakeholders, product owners, and other engineering teams to understand and solve business problems using technology. Together with the team you will design and deliver top-class engineering solutions to satisfy complex and diverse business goals, ensuring alignment and steer towards strategic architecture.

Your key responsibilities

• Designing & developing high-quality solutions for risk management of corporate lending products
• Driving continuous improvement on process, tools and techniques
• Solving complex problems and deliver effective, practical solutions
• Supporting the day-to-day stability of the platforms you develop, prioritise and manage incidents
• Automating delivery pipelines, so that systems are always ready to deploy
• Seeking ways to improve your application’s performance and code quality, ensuring architecture supports business requirements

Your skills and experience

• Proven experience in Java application development using the Spring framework
• Exposure to front-end technologies such as JavaScript and test automation using Cucumber or similar
• Experienced developer in complex, business-facing applications
• Good understanding of relational databases, including Oracle and Oracle PL/SQL
• Solid understanding of the modern SDLC tool stack, including Bitbucket, Jira, Artifactory, TeamCity, and similar platforms
