Job summary

SMT GB in the Yorkshire region is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team. You will service, diagnose, and repair Volvo construction equipment across Yorkshire, ensuring high uptime and safety standards. You will communicate with customers and document work clearly.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or related engineering field and proven field-service experience with heavy equipment. A UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Ability to diagnose faults and work in a field-based environment with diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment.
• Identifying and resolving mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related faults.
• Acting as primary point of contact for customers with regular status updates.
• Completing all job documentation, inspection reports, and timesheets in real time.
• Maintaining safety, professionalism, and compliance with company policies.
