Job summary

SMT GB, a leading field-based engineering provider, is looking for a Field Service Engineer to service Volvo construction equipment across Buxton, Matlock, Chesterfield, Bakewell, Dronfield and surrounding areas. You’ll diagnose, repair and maintain machinery to maximise uptime, delivering exceptional customer service on-site.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, or HGV Maintenance, a full UK driving licence, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline is required.
• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant/equipment is essential.
• Ability to diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment.
• Identify and resolve faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Serve as primary contact for customers, providing updates on status and actions.
• Complete all job documentation accurately and in real time.
• Maintain high safety and professionalism at all times.
