Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service Volvo construction equipment across Duxford and surrounding areas. You will diagnose, service and repair machinery at customer sites, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring maximum uptime.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or related field, with strong fault-finding abilities and a full UK driving licence. You will work independently on-site, travel as needed, and adhere to safety standards and company procedures.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities with field-based work experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repairs on Volvo construction equipment.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and engine faults using diagnostic tools.
• Be the primary point of contact for customers and provide updates on status and actions.
• Complete job documentation, inspection reports and timesheets accurately and in real time.
• Maintain high safety, professionalism and compliance with company policies.
