Job summary

A well-established groundworks contractor near Droitwich Spa is looking for a Yard Assistant to ensure the smooth running of operations. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience and knowledge of construction machinery. Responsibilities include loading/unloading vehicles, maintaining yard organization, and driving to various sites. This full-time, on-site position offers a competitive annual salary of £32,500 plus benefits, including 35 days of annual leave and opportunities for overtime. Immediate start available.

Job description

Straight-Line Group are currently hiring Yard Assistant to support the smooth running our valued client based near Droitwich, Worcestershire. The client is a busy well-established groundworks contractor.

The successful candidate must have previous experience in a similar role and have experience with all forms of construction machinery and tools. Due to the nature of the business the candidate must have a dynamic approach to problem solving and be able to think on their feet. Within this role the candidate will be working closely with our Plant and Yard manager and our HGV driver.

General Duties
  • Loading and unloading vehicles with materials, stock, tools and plant equipment in a safe manner.
  • Keeping the yard tidy, organised and safe. Ensuring materials are stored properly.
  • Performing routine maintenance, cleaning the yard and equipment ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
  • Monitor and maintaining stock levels
  • General property repairs
  • Driving - materials and equipment to our various sites around the country when required.
General Requirements
  • Previous proven experience in a similar role (Minimum 2 years)
  • Knowledge of construction plant, tools and vehicles required.
  • Physically fit due to the nature of the role.
  • Ability to work autonomy, manage multiple priorities and solve complex problems.
  • Proactive attitude to problem solving & forward thinking.
  • High attention to detail, good organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to health & safety
  • Strong organisation & communication skills, closing tasks out quickly and efficiently.
  • Clean driving license
  • HGV and trailer license (desirable)
  • CSCS card / CPCS or NPORS qualifications (desirable)

This is a full-time on-site position based in Hanbury.

An excellent package is available to the right candidate.

£32,500 plus depending on the candidate

35 days annual leave (including 8 days statutory)

Based on 47.5 hours per week (Working hours to be agreed usually 7am - 5pm)

Opportunity for overtime on ad hoc basis to meet the business needs.
