Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to join a busy HGV and Commercial Vehicle workshop in Reading. You will oversee daily operations, allocate repairs, and drive productivity while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

The role is permanent and full-time, offering a salary up to £50,000 basic plus bonus, overtime, and a benefits package including pension contributions, private medical insurance, life assurance, and generous annual leave.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Workshop Controller or similar role in a commercial vehicle workshop.
• Strong knowledge of HGV maintenance operations and Large Goods Vehicle Operator Licensing requirements.
• Experience managing workshop loading, productivity, and performance targets.
• Proven ability to coach and develop Technicians and lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily workshop operations, allocating repairs to technicians.
• Maximise technician productivity and labour sales.
• Monitor repair progress to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
• Oversee warranty claims and workshop documentation.
• Coach and develop Technicians, including performance reviews and training plans.
• Collaborate with Depot Manager, Service Advisors and technical departments to improve workshop performance.
• Maintain high standards of quality control, compliance, and Health & Safety.

Workshop Controller Role

• Manage daily workshop operations, allocating scheduled and urgent repairs to HGV and Commercial Vehicle Technicians
• Maximise technician productivity, workshop efficiency and labour sales
