Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd is recruiting a Workshop Controller for a busy service department near Leominster. You will lead a team of 8+ technicians, coordinate daily workshop activity and ensure customer requirements are understood and fulfilled while driving efficiency and KPI targets.

Workshop Controller Vacancy in Leominster!

Salary: Around £34,000 basic salary plus performance-related bonuses providing £40,000 on-target earnings.

Hours: 8:15am-5:30pm Monday to Friday with an hour lunch and 1 in 4 Saturdays 8:30am-12:30pm paid as overtime.

Our client, a large long-established franchise-approved car dealership based in the Leominster region, is currently looking to recruit a Workshop Controller to join their busy Service Department.

Reporting to the Service Manager and accountable for a team of 8+ Vehicle Technicians including apprentices, your responsibilities will include:

Day-to-day control of the workshop team.

Liaise with the Service Manager and team to ensure the best process.

Ensure customer requirements are fully understood and communicated effectively to other members of the Service Department.

Monitor individual and workshop efficiencies to ensure key performance indicators are met.

To calculate and manage the effective use of the workshop.

Plan the distribution of work among the team utilising available skills mix.

Identify individual training and development needs.

Manage liaison between workshop and service reception on customer vehicle progress.

Manage workshop standards in accordance with HSO requirements.

Ensure understanding and adherence to the requirements of brand service requirements and customer satisfaction indicators.

To be eligible, you will live within a reasonable commuting distance to Leominster and ideally have previous experience as a Workshop Controller or worked in a similar capacity running a successful automotive workshop; however, this is not essential, as training would be provided.

You will, however, need to have a proven track record in the automotive industry in an aftersales role such as a Vehicle Technician or Service Advisor and be willing to undertake a new challenge in your career moving into a supervisory/controller role.

Overall, you will have excellent communication skills, good interpersonal skills and team orientation, be results-oriented, have problem-solving and decision-making skills, put a focus on quality and reliability, and be IT literate (any experience with CDK/Kerridge would be preferable). You will also need to have a UK driving licence with minimal points.
