Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Residential Support Worker in Bexhill, East Sussex. The role helps women move toward safer futures within a refuge and community setting, using trauma-informed, person-centred support.

The position involves building relationships, safeguarding, recording details, and working across shifts (10am-10pm) in a 4 on, 4 off pattern. Competitive benefits accompany a rewarding, women-specific environment.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Able to work a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Empathetic and resilient, with the ability to handle confidential information sensitively.

Responsibilities

• Build positive professional relationships and provide trauma-informed, person-centred support.
• Deliver daily living skills, wellbeing, leisure, creative and therapeutic activities.
• Welcome and induct new residents into the service.
• Promote a safe, respectful environment and complete regular welfare and building checks.
• Record important information accurately and maintain confidential records.
• Respond calmly and sensitively to challenging situations and provide appropriate support.
• Work with criminal justice and support agencies to help residents achieve positive outcomes.
• Act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required.
