Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Residential Support Worker to assist women in a refuge in Bexhill, East Sussex. You will provide trauma-informed, person-centred support to residents with multiple and complex needs and collaborate with partner agencies to promote safety, wellbeing and independence.

This sessional, contract role requires empathy, resilience and the ability to work independently across rotating day/night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

• Role open to women only due to service nature (Equality Act 2010)
• Good literacy and numeracy skills
• Understanding of safeguarding
• Able to work independently
• Willing to work rotating days/nights/weekends/bank holidays
• Empathetic and resilient with confidential information
• Experience in women’s refuge or domestic abuse service
• Knowledge of housing pathways for survivors
• Enhanced DBS check required

Responsibilities

• Build positive, professional relationships and provide consistent, person-centred support
• Deliver daily living skills, wellbeing, leisure, creative and therapeutic activities
• Encourage residents to develop confidence and greater independence
• Welcome and induct new residents into the service
• Promote safety and welfare checks and maintain records
• Record important information accurately and maintain confidential records
• Respond calmly to challenging situations and work with partners to achieve positive outcomes
• Act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required
