Job summary

A leading aerospace engineering firm based in Filton is seeking a talented Wing Design Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace projects. The role involves ensuring the structural design meets program requirements, providing design leadership, and managing stakeholder expectations. Candidates should possess experience in wing structure design and proficiency in tools such as CATIA V5. This is a contract position with hybrid working available after settling in, expected to run until October 2025.

Job description

Carbon60 is seeking a talented Wing Design Engineer to play a crucial role in the development of cutting‑edge aerospace projects. This Wing Design Engineer position is working for a client of ours based in Filton.

As the Wing Design Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural design meets program airworthiness and product requirements. You will define, deliver, and enable technical studies, trades, and investigations to ensure the delivery of technical solutions in accordance with relevant design methods and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support identification, management, and delivery of change through Mod opening, DFM release, and Stage 3 Closure of Mods on time, to cost, and quality
  • Provide design leadership of internal and external designers within the team and ownership of Lean Engineering improvements, including 'Right First Time' and Lead Time Reduction
  • Ensure effective organization and governance of design & maturity reviews in line with the company's policies, processes, and practices
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in wing structure design and as part of a design team to support approval and authorisation
  • Ability to make or influence decisions in a complex network of stakeholders and customers, enabling right‑first‑time delivery and achieving planned milestones
  • Strong track record of maturing new technologies, implementing Design to Cost projects, and initiating strategic technology projects
  • Proficiency in design toolsets such as CATIA V5, ICC, Zamiz, ECM, Solings, and PASS
  • Design Approval/Authorisation Signatory experience is essential

This position is a contract role that offers hybrid working once the successful candidate has settled into the position. The contract is running until October 2025.
