Job summary

Academic Appointments Ltd is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wetherby. The role supports the class teacher to help pupils engage with learning and develop academically and personally.

The successful candidate will be patient, reliable and proactive, building strong relationships with pupils and staff. Key responsibilities include supporting daily activities, assisting individuals and groups, and maintaining an inclusive environment in line with school

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach.
  • DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to support pupil progress.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
  • Provide support for pupils with different learning needs.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support behaviour management in line with school expectations.
  • Prepare learning resources and assist with classroom organisation.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.

Academic Appointments is currently working with a primary school in Wetherby that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development and would like to become part of a supportive school environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their potential.

The school is looking for a committed individual who can work alongside the class teacher to provide high-quality support, helping pupils to engage with their learning and thrive both academically and personally.

The role

As a teaching assistant, you will play an important role within the classroom, supporting pupils across a range of activities and helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support learning, encourage confidence and provide additional help to pupils who may need it.

The successful candidate will be patient, reliable and enthusiastic, with a genuine commitment to making a difference in children's education.

Requirements

The successful teaching assistant will have:

  • Previous experience working with children within a school, nursery or educational setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or relevant experience supporting pupils in a primary environment.
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to work.
  • Recent professional references covering relevant childcare, education or employment experience.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures.
