Job summary

Academic Appointments Ltd. is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a welcoming Wetherby primary school. You will work alongside the class teacher to support learning and pupil development in a positive, inclusive environment.

The role requires patience, reliability and enthusiasm, with a focus on helping every child reach their potential and build confidence in learning, both academically and personally.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or educational setting.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or relevant experience supporting pupils in a primary environment.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning.
  • Working with individuals and small groups to support pupil progress.
  • Encouraging pupils' confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
  • Providing support for pupils with different learning needs.
  • Helping to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Supporting behaviour management in line with school expectations.
  • Preparing learning resources and assisting with classroom organisation.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Following safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.

Academic Appointments is currently working with a primary school in Wetherby that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The school is looking for a committed individual who can work alongside the class teacher to provide high-quality support, helping pupils to engage with their learning and thrive both academically and personally.

The role

As a teaching assistant, you will play an important role within the classroom, supporting pupils across a range of activities and helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support learning, encourage confidence and provide additional help to pupils who may need it.

The successful candidate will be patient, reliable and enthusiastic, with a genuine commitment to making a difference in children's education.

Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children within a school, nursery or educational setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or relevant experience supporting pupils in a primary environment.
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to work.
  • Recent professional references covering relevant childcare, education or employment experience.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures.
