Job summary

A leading educational provider in Wales is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ideal candidate will be a fluent Welsh speaker with experience working with children in educational settings. Responsibilities include assisting teachers with lesson delivery and promoting the use of the Welsh language throughout the school day. This role requires excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

Qualifications

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, both in groups and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Promote and encourage the use of the Welsh language throughout the school day.
  • Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery, preparation of resources, and classroom activities.
  • Provide additional help to pupils with ALN (Additional Learning Needs) where required.
  • Help maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and participate in relevant training sessions.
Essential Requirements
  • Fluent Welsh speaker (written and verbal).
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting pupils.
  • Ability to follow instructions and use initiative when needed.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
Desirable
  • Experience in a secondary school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE, Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Understanding of ALN provisions and strategies.
