Job description

Job Title: Multi-Process Welder (TIG / MAG / FCAW)
Location: Atherton - Must live within daily commutable distance
Salary: £17.36 per hour + Overtime (OT1: £26.04 / OT2: £34.72)
Hours: Day Shift - 39 hours/week

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

• Monday to Thursday: 06:45-15:15
• Friday: 06:45-14:15

Overview

Actio Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a respected heavy engineering firm in Atherton. We're looking for a skilled Multi-Process Welder with TIG, MAG, and FCAW experience. TIG will be the primary process, but flexibility across MAG and FCAW is essential due to workload variation. We will also consider strong MAG/FCAW welders as a Plan B.

Key Responsibilities

• Weld 25mm plate using TIG root and fill, MAG downhand, and FCAW vertical up (test required)
• Interpret engineering drawings and weld to spec
• Maintain high standards in a safety-conscious, team-based environment

Requirements

• Experience and previous coding in fillet and butt welds on mild steel
• Multi-process welding skills (TIG, MAG, FCAW) preferred
• MAG/FCAW-only candidates also considered
• Time-served or qualified to City & Guilds Level 3 / NVQ Level 3
• Experience in heavy industry (e.g. Beaver Bridges, Oldham Engineering, Severfields, William Hare) preferred
• Full, clean UK driving licence required

Not Suitable For

• Welders with experience limited to skips, handrails, gates, or light fabrication

Materials Welded

• TIG: Carbon steels and high nickel alloys
• MAG/FCAW: Carbon steels
