The Old Swan Harrogate is looking for a dedicated and motivated Weekend Kitchen Porter to support our busy kitchen team. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen and wants to be part of a friendly hospitality environment in Harrogate.,

  • Ensure the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils are kept clean and hygienic at all times through regular washing, cleaning, and organising.
  • Support the kitchen brigade with basic food preparation tasks when required, following all food hygiene regulations.
  • Safely operate dishwashing machines and manage the flow of crockery, pots, pans.
  • Assist with the removal and disposal of kitchen waste and recycling, maintaining environmental and safety standards.
  • Replenish cleaning materials and support with general store room organisation.
  • Work as part of a close-knit team to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen operation across busy weekends.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures, reporting issues promptly to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
    No previous kitchen experience required; a positive attitude and willingness to learn on the job are essential.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota.
  • Good level of physical fitness and able to stand for extended periods.
  • Team player with effective communication skills, able to follow instructions and work independently as needed.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
