Job description

The Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS) manages important Environmental Monitoring systems and datasets. As a Technical Officer you will help manage these systems and data, support users, and work primarily on Water Quality systems and data, with additional support for other systems as required.

All new hires will complete mandatory training and participate in incident response duties when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and manage users for the Water Quality systems.
  • Support users and resolve issues, especially during the transition to the new My Environment application.
  • Update, improve and maintain datasets.
  • Respond to internal and external data requests.
  • Support system improvement and upgrade projects.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Experience of working with large complex datasets.
  • Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems.
  • A motivated, organised, friendly and helpful person with an eye for detail, comfortable working in a dispersed team environment.
  • A proactive problem‑solver who enjoys tackling challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service.
Desirable Experience & Skills
  • Experience of using and managing environmental monitoring data systems.
  • Experience with PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online, and RA.
  • Working knowledge of water quality monitoring.
