Wastewater Treatment Strategic Compliance Manager
Location: Durrington + South Coast travel | Hours: 37 per week | Contract: Permanent
Salary: £80,000-£90,000
Hybrid working: 1-2 days from home

Our client is for a dynamic Strategic Compliance Manager to lead and elevate our environmental performance across wastewater treatment operations. This is a high-impact, strategic role with a clear development pathway-forming part of our succession plan for the Head of Wastewater Treatment.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the strategic direction for environmental and effluent quality performance.
  • Monitor and report on key compliance metrics, identifying trends and driving proactive actions.
  • Oversee investigations into compliance failures and environmental incidents, ensuring robust processes and valuable learning outcomes.
  • Run internal audits, manage governance frameworks, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with operational teams and capital delivery to embed environmental requirements.
  • Produce high-quality, data-driven compliance reports for senior leaders and regulators.
  • Champion a culture of environmental responsibility, continuous improvement, and digital innovation.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with regulators and key stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience in wastewater or industrial process management (water industry background ideal).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Expertise in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and project/process management.
  • Deep understanding of UK environmental legislation, EPR, and compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of environmental KPIs and the roles of the Environment Agency and local authorities.
Additional Info

Participation in a call‑out rota and occasional overnight stays may be required.
