The Opportunity

As Waste Manager, you will lead strategies to ensure compliance, reduce waste, and optimise recycling across all phases of this landmark project. Your Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Waste Manager to develop and implement waste management strategies across this major civil infrastructure project. You will ensure compliance with environmental legislation, drive waste reduction initiatives, and embed best practices throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver the project’s waste management plan in line with client objectives and UK environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and report on waste streams, recycling rates, and landfill diversion targets.
  • Ensure compliance with waste legislation, duty of care requirements, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Collaborate with design, construction, and procurement teams to integrate waste minimisation strategies.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to promote circular economy principles.
  • Prepare waste performance reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Lead initiatives to achieve zero waste to landfill and improve resource efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Environmental Management, Waste Management, Sustainability, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in waste management within large‑scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of UK waste legislation, duty of care, and environmental compliance.
  • Proven track record in implementing waste reduction and recycling programmes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Optional Experience
  • Experience in nuclear or high‑hazard environments.
  • Familiarity with PAS 402 (Waste Management Reporting) and circular economy frameworks.
  • Membership of CIWM (Chartered Institution of Waste Management) or similar professional body.
The setting for the role

The role will mainly be office based with trips to site if required. A safety induction will be provided.
