Job description

The Ward Clerk will support administrative duties on various wards, providing cover for annual leave and sickness. The post holder will ensure efficient and accurate administrative and clerical support for nursing and medical staff and deliver front‑of‑house services to patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure notes are requested, filed, coded and recorded accurately for admissions, discharges and transfers.
  • Archive nursing and medical notes.
  • Request and log work repairs via Smart line.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy workspace and manage stock supply using Unit 4.
  • Arrange and book hospital transport.
  • Liaise with the general office regarding safe storage of patient valuables.
  • Provide general clerical support to the ward and Ward Manager (scanning, photocopying, etc.).
  • Participate in data collection and audit as required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build working relationships.
  • Strong planning, organisational and methodical approach to tasks.
  • Sound knowledge of PAS and electronic notes.
  • CPR and first aid training a plus.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to work flexible hours.
Requirements
  • Identity checks, professional registration, employment history and reference checks.
  • Work health assessment, criminal record check, right to work check and visa status where applicable.
