Job summary

Durham University invites applications for a frontline Customer Services role within the University Library and Collections. The post will work across visitor-facing sites including Palace Green Library, Oriental Museum and Durham Castle, and across libraries and study spaces, seven days a week.

The role focuses on delivering high-quality customer experience at information points, answering queries, and proactively providing information. Weekend work as part of a standard rota is included.

Responsibilities

• Assist visitors at information points and answer queries to provide high-quality service.
• Support visitor experiences across multiple sites including Palace Green Library, Oriental Museum and Durham Castle.
• Contribute to exhibition preparation, events, and front-line duties at museums, libraries and study spaces.
• Perform circulation tasks such as book returns and re-shelving, and help maintain study spaces and galleries.
• Assist with opening and closing routines and general upkeep of the collections.
