Job description

Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice in Slough

  • Independent, family‑run practice – with a supportive, close‑knit team and strong community values
  • Purpose‑built, modern facilities – including separate cat/dog/rabbit wards, heated cages, and advanced imaging and lab equipment
  • Excellent work–life balance – 4‑day week, no OOH, and only 1 in 3 weekends
  • Career development – support for surgical certificates and the opportunity to grow orthopaedic services in‑house
  • Competitive salary – up to £70,000 FTE, with bonus potential for senior‑level vets

Since 2006, this proudly independent, family‑run veterinary practice has been dedicated to providing outstanding veterinary care and exceptional customer service to the pets and owners of Slough. As passionate pet owners themselves, the team understands just how much every animal means to its family — and that’s reflected in everything they do.

Now, the practice is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon (2–3 years+ experience) to join their friendly, close‑knit team on a full‑time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in surgery — ideally working towards, or keen to start, a Surgical Certificate. There’s also real scope for someone who would like to help develop orthopaedic services in‑house.

The Practice

Set within new, purpose‑built premises, every detail has been designed for patient comfort, clinical excellence, and smooth day‑to‑day workflows. The spacious waiting area offers separate zones for cats and dogs, helping to reduce stress from the moment clients walk through the door.

With dedicated wards for cats, dogs, and rabbits — all equipped with state‑of‑the‑art heated cages — the environment supports species‑specific care and comfort. The practice also boasts a purpose‑built imaging room with digital radiography and ultrasound, alongside an in‑house laboratory for fast and accurate diagnostic testing.

The Role
  • Hours: 8:30am – 7:00pm, 4 days per week
  • Weekends: 1 in 3
  • No OOH
  • Sole charge shifts required
What’s on Offer
  • Salary: Up to £70,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
  • Certificate support available
  • Generous annual leave allowance
  • Bonus scheme considered for senior‑level vets

You’ll be joining a supportive and experienced nursing and reception team, with a new RVN joining this year. Both directors hold Certificates in Small Animal Surgery, and the practice already performs a wide range of soft tissue procedures in‑house, alongside a visiting orthopaedic surgeon.

If you’re a motivated veterinary surgeon looking to take the next step in your career with a forward‑thinking, family‑run practice, this could be the perfect fit.
