Job description

The Best Connection Mansfield, are currently seeking an experienced vehicle technician, for our client based in Sutton in Ashfield, to carry out maintenance and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment as required by the authority to a minimum of the ministry MOT Test standards.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
  • To inspect vehicles and to complete all relevant paperwork, whilst carrying out instructions from a workshop team leader
  • The repair of vehicles and plant/road testing, in accordance with current legislation.
  • To use computerised diagnostics machines and fleet management computer systems
  • To weld with both Gas and Electric appliances, as well as operating drilling machines and associated equipment.
  • To grind and shape metal /undertake metal fabrication work as required
  • To comply with all safety standards and report any defects on equipment, buildings and plant accordingly
  • To own and use (as a minimum requirement) a standard tool kit agreed by the union.
  • To understand, maintain and repair electrical systems, and understand, maintain and repair hydraulic systems.
  • To communicate with internal employees as well as members of the public with regard to external suppliers.
  • To test and sign for any work completed, confirming that the work has been carried out to the required standard.
Requirements:
  • A full UK driving licence is essential to this role
  • Previous experience working on HGVs or Refuse vehicles
Pay rate:
  • £28.00 per hour
Working hours:
  • Working on rotating shifts weekly, Monday to Friday

Please note: this role includes working over the Christmas Period, yet having bank holidays off, including 25th & 26th December, and 1st Jan 2026
