Job description

Vehicle Mechanic/Technician - Field Based

Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30–5 pm. Based at client sites in Essex / Clelmsford.

We are looking for field engineers for our fast‑growing company.

Salary up to £38,000–42,000, negotiable. Benefits include: company credit card for dinners/lunches, company mobile phone and iPad, company vehicle, workplace pension, death in service, 25 holidays plus bank holidays.

Job Brief

This is an opportunity within our company for a professional technician to join our team. You will deliver service, repair and customer support during field visits to provide the desired customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair of a wide range of electric powered trucks and lifting equipment.
• Advanced fault finding and diagnostics on road‑legal electric trucks, electric street vacuums, electric tow tugs, and other electrically powered equipment & battery‑powered handling equipment.
• Provide timely and detailed service reports.
• Follow all company procedures and protocols.
• Van stock management.
• Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organisation.
• Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings.
• LOLER & thorough examinations.
• Build positive relationships with customers.

Requirements

• Proven field service experience.
• Strong electrical background; skilled in troubleshooting, testing, repair and servicing of technical equipment.
• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, auto electrical engineering and equipment such as material handling, lifting products and electric trucks.
• Electrical bias.
• English literacy.
• Ability to work flexible hours and stay away from home when required.
• Full and clean driving licence.
• Technical degree or certification.
• Experience and knowledge of both AC and DC motors.
