Job description
Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Aerodynamicist to be responsible for the generation of new aerodynamic concepts and designs for the race car, as well as efficient testing and analysis of those concepts. It is essential to ensure that the aerodynamic specification of the race car is constantly evolving to improve its performance. In this role you will have overall charge of the full development cycle of aerodynamic components, including concept, testing, analysis, and reporting, and help develop innovative aerodynamic processes, tools, and ways of thinking to push the boundaries of aerodynamic design and performance. Additionally, the role involves teaching and inspiring more junior aerodynamicists to achieve greater success.

Responsibilities
  • Aerodynamics

    Create new geometries using CAD;

    Submit geometries to test in both WT and CFD and manage the process;

    Analyse results from CFD and wind tunnel and recommend track test of performant geometries;

    Define, specify and manage effective and efficient wind tunnel tests;

    Conduct wind tunnel testing (some shift work will be required).

  • Professionalism

    Suggest, investigate, (and where applicable) implement new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis and reporting;

    Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the projects;

    To work in a professional manner at all times regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department / team/ sponsors.

  • Mentorship and Communication

    Work with the team leader and deputy team leader to develop innovative aerodynamic concepts;

    Oversee the work of aerodynamicists and junior aerodynamicists within their group. Advise and mentor them to improve their skills set;

    Maintain and develop good relationships with aero performance group, aerodynamics development group leaders and senior aero management;

    Communicate effectively with other groups such as model design, model shop, aero technology group, CFD methodology group, aero production and wind tunnel systems group.
