As a UTC Senior Nurse, you willbe considered a key person in day-to-day clinical leadership and expertisewithin the department.

You will be working as part of ateam within your sphere of competency in adiverse, multi-skilledteamthat includes GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Physician Associates,Paediatric ANPs, Emergency Practitioners and Live Well Coaches.

On each shift you will beexpected to act as a shift leader, coordinate the working team, stream patientsfrom the front door and work collaboratively with a wide range of localspecialists.

Weare looking for full and part time Nurses on a permanentsalaried basis.The service is 365 days per year, 7 days a week which means that shifts are available 24/7.

Main duties of the job

Principalduties and responsibilities

  • To monitor and manage the UTC patient case list.
  • Effectively delegate tasks to staff on shift, providing safe and efficient care.
  • Perform streaming safely and efficiently, assigning patients to the correct department and under the correct priority level.
  • Provide a safe ED/UTC front door for patients and staff.
  • To perform diagnostics including ECGs, bloods, and urinalysis.
  • To provide reassurance to patients, families, and carers.
  • Follow diagnostic and referral pathways.
  • Effective communication with a range of inter-professional teams for patient referrals.
  • Contribute to specific care guidelines and standards supporting the care of patients across the health economy.
  • To implement Health and Safety and Risk Management appropriate to area of work
  • To deliver aspects of the Clinical Governance Agenda, following the direction of the Clinical Leadership.
  • Contribute to and manage various elements of auditing in the UTC.

  • Up-to-date Basic Life Support Certification inAdult and Paediatric

  • Be awareof the procedures to follow if concerned regarding the protection of children.
  • Ensurecompliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self andothers.

  • Have theability to successfully make appropriate in hospital specialty referrals.

  • Identifyclinical issues and incidents within the service that reduce the quality ofcare within the specialist service bringing any issues to the attention of the management team.
  • Takepart in activities to counter these to ensure the delivery of safe andeffective care.
