Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking an Engineer in the Urban Traffic Control Team to manage traffic signals, UTC systems and detection/monitoring tech across a large highway network. You will design, operate and optimise systems, driver incident response, and deliver tech-led improvements to enhance safety and journey reliability.

Flexible, hybrid working is offered along with training, progression and a strong local pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Engineering/transport qualification or equivalent demonstrable industry experience.
• Experience with traffic signals, ITS, highways or related engineering disciplines.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Design, operation, maintenance, renewal and optimisation of traffic signals and UTC systems.
• Asset management, incident response and delivery of technology-led improvements across the highway network.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partners to improve road safety, reliability and network performance.
