Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Urban Traffic Control Team. You will manage a portfolio of traffic signals, UTC systems and related technology, helping to optimise networks and improve safety and reliability across Kirklees.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification or equivalent demonstrable industry experience.
• Experience with traffic signals, UTC or ITS preferred.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Ability to lead and communicate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate, maintain and optimise traffic signals and UTC assets.
• Develop and deliver technology-led improvements across the highway network.
• Collaborate with partners and specialists to enhance road safety and journey reliability.
• Support asset management, incident response and network performance improvements.
