Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a UTC Technical Officer in Kirklees, West Yorkshire. The role provides technical and administrative coordination for the traffic signals, variable message signs and wider traffic management technology to support the safe and efficient operation of the highway network.

Working within a specialist UTC team, you will manage information, coordinate processes and provide a professional service to colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience handling contractors, permits, invoices would help.
• GCSEs Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above or equivalent.
• Strong organisational and IT skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance, street works, asset enquiries and financial processes.
• Coordinate traffic signals maintenance contractor and check worksheets and invoices.
• Prepare street works permit applications and register traffic signal switch-offs.
• Coordinate with Network Management where utility or other highway works may affect UTC assets.
• Support the recovery of costs for damage to traffic management equipment.
• Maintain accurate records and respond to customer enquiries.
• Respond to apparatus enquiries and collate technical information.
