Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Urban Traffic Control Team. You will design, operate and optimise traffic signals and UTC systems across the borough, while managing assets and responding to incidents.

Qualifications

• Experience in traffic signals, UTC or Intelligent Transport Systems.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering engineering projects and managing technology assets.
• Knowledge of traffic signal design, operation, and maintenance.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Design, operation, maintenance, renewal, and optimisation of traffic signals and related technology.
• Asset management, incident response and delivery of technology-led improvements.
• Collaborate with colleagues, regional partners and industry specialists to improve road safety and network performance.
• Help shape the future of Urban Traffic Control in Kirklees.
