Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking an Engineer for the Urban Traffic Control team to develop and manage traffic signals and ITS solutions across a diverse borough. You’ll work on UTC systems, detection tech, monitoring tech and communications infrastructure to improve safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering, technology or transport-related qualification, or demonstrable industry experience.
• Experience or interest in traffic signals, ITS, highways or transport technology.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the management and development of a portfolio of traffic signals, UTC systems and related technology.
• Involved in design, operation, maintenance, renewal and optimization of traffic signals and associated tech.
• Collaborate with colleagues, regional partners and industry specialists to improve road safety and network performance.
• Develop expertise in Urban Traffic Control and Intelligent Transport Systems.
