The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15‑month programme where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving and gain a Category C1 (7.5 t) licence, with a view to moving to a full‑time 7.5 t Driver position within DX upon completion. Apprentices will also undertake a range of training alongside their daily role, gaining knowledge of the job, building skills and behaviours, and obtaining CPC licences – a legal requirement to drive LGV vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
• Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training.
• Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements at all times.
• Perform all daily checks, report defects immediately and complete correct paperwork.
• Scan all products using DX scanning equipment.
• Ensure deliveries are loaded safely prior to leaving the depot.
• Observe DX procedures and policies at all times.
• Manage routing to ensure premium and timed deliveries are achieved.
• Ensure the correct equipment and PPE are in good order and used at all times.
• Report all delivery and on‑road issues to the traffic office immediately.
• Ensure customers receive their deliveries in excellent condition and deal with any customer issues politely and effectively.
• Ensure collections are made in line with given instructions and times.

Qualifications & Entry Requirements

• Must be 18 years or over.
• Minimum of 12 months UK driving experience.
• Category B licence (required).
• Home‑based driving job and will be driving 7.5 t vehicles (HGV2/HGV1 licence required).

Compensation & Schedule

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum (including car allowance or company vehicle). Hours: 42.5 hours per week, five days a week with evening work as required.
