Job summary

Job description

The role of Underwriter is to assess new Buy to Let (BTL) or Home Purchase Plans (HPP) finance applications to ensure that they meet credit policy. Underwriting the finance and managing from application through to offer and assist with completion as necessary, ensuring credit risk is managed and deadlines met.

Underwriting allocated finance applications to offer within assigned mandate level and agreed service standards, requesting further information from relevant stakeholders where required and verifying this on receipt.

Offering finance to approved applicant(s), within assigned mandate level and agreed service standards, requesting any outstanding information id required and verifying it on receipt.

Being proactive when suggesting ways to overcome potential problems, whilst ensuring that there is no additional risk to the company

Liaise with Internal and External Introducers as necessary.

Keep all internal systems up to date, inclusive of effective record keeping and accurate notes.

Provide excellent communication links between customers and external providers.

Detailed level of knowledge of the FCA/PRA regulations regarding residential finance is essential.

Managing pipeline of cases from application to offer.

Ensure documentation is collated and stored in line with Company policies.

Ensure that the business is performing efficiently, suggesting process improvements that will not detract from managing credit risk.

Providing training to colleagues to ensure knowledge is shared.

Ability to work efficiently whilst maintaining accuracy and a high quality of work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Ensure a good understanding of all the company's policies, procedures and compliance guidelines, installing the principles in your daily practice to protect the company from any associated risks undefined.

Work with Business Development Managers and Administration teams to ensure new and existing relationships with introducers are proactively maintained.

Liaise with Internal and External Credit Committees to ensure any questions are answered promptly and accurately.

Monitoring and review of existing finance deals, regular reporting to credit committee.

Assist the Customer Services Team post completion, when required.
