Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team in the UK. You will advise on UK Data Protection laws, support the DPO in statutory duties, and lead initiatives from managing data breaches to regulatory engagement.

You will collaborate with business units, drive DPIA activity, maintain ROPA, and ensure robust responses to DSARs and complaints. A strong regulatory mindset and a track record in privacy governance are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing data protection advice within Compliance/Legal functions.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA) maintenance.
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches and MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as a primary contact for DSARs, complaints, and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring activities to assess compliance and improvements.
• Liaise with ICO on customer complaints and regulatory inquiries and ensure robust investigations.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance peers to resolve privacy-related issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data protection and operational efficiency.
