Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team in the UK. You will ensure compliance with UK Data Protection laws and act as trusted advisor to business units, supporting the DPO and managing personal data breaches.

You will lead DPIAs, maintain ROPA, handle DSARs, liaise with the ICO, and drive continuous improvement in privacy and risk management across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven data protection advisory experience in compliance or legal roles.
• Strong knowledge of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex, deadline-driven workloads.
• Experience researching and interpreting regulatory information.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead the assessment, oversight and reporting of personal data breaches, including MI reporting.
• Act as a point of contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on customer complaints and regulatory inquiries.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve privacy-related issues.
• Drive continuous improvement in data protection compliance and operational efficiency.
