Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team in the UK. You will ensure compliance with UK Data Protection laws, act as a trusted advisor to business units, support the DPO, and lead initiatives from breach management to regulator engagement.

You will provide expert guidance on regulatory changes, maintain ROPA, and lead DPIAs. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and ability to manage complex workloads in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance or Legal.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Excellent researching, analyzing and presenting complex regulatory information.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance to the business on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist in undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead the assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches, including MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as a key contact for front-line teams on DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring activities to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on customer complaints and regulatory enquiries, ensuring robust investigations and responses.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance across the business to resolve data protection issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data protection compliance and operational efficiency.
