Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You will advise on UK data protection laws, assist the DPO, and lead initiatives from DPIAs to breach response in a regulated environment.

In this role, you will partner with business units and senior leaders, manage ROA/DPAR activities, liaise with the ICO, and drive continuous improvement across data protection and privacy programmes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing data protection advice within Compliance or Legal
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with accuracy and professionalism
• Ability to research, analyse and interpret regulatory information and present findings

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK data protection laws and regulatory changes
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA)
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
• Lead assessment, oversight and reporting of personal data breaches and MI reporting
• Act as a main contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring to assess compliance
• Liaise with ICO on complaints and regulatory inquiries
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve data protection issues
• Drive continuous improvement of data protection compliance and efficiency
