Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You will help ensure compliance with UK data protection laws, advise business units and senior leaders, support the DPO, and lead initiatives from DPIAs to managing data breaches.

You will provide expert guidance on ICO expectations, maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA), oversee DPIAs, and act as a key contact for DSARs, complaints and regulatory matters.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance/Legal functions.
• Strong knowledge of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage time-sensitive workloads with precision.
• Skilled in researching and interpreting complex regulatory information.
• Ability to challenge views and interpret guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead investigations of personal data breaches and MI reporting.
• Act as key contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with ICO on complaints and regulatory inquiries.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance and stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Drive continuous improvement of data protection compliance and efficiency.
